Ombudsmen of 4 countries organize joint reception of citizens

Ombudsmen of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Russia jointly organize reception of citizens. Press service of the Institute of Ombudsman of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

According to it, Atyr Abdrakhmatova believes that increased cooperation with colleagues from other states in 2022 has made it possible to increase efficiency in protecting the rights of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic outside the country.

A Memorandum of cooperation was signed with the Ombudsmen of Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Moldova. It is noted that this cooperation made it possible to provide timely assistance in the implementation and protection of the rights of Kyrgyzstanis permanently or temporarily residing in these countries.

Ombudsmen notify each other of known violations of the rights and freedoms of citizens of their countries, contribute to the restoration of violated human rights within their powers.

Ombudsmen plan to hold in 2023:

  • Joint receptions of citizens whose rights are limited or violated;
  • Monitoring of observance of the rights and freedoms of citizens;
  • Joint information campaigns for citizens traveling outside their countries for work, education, treatment and for other purposes;
  • Joint discussions on the most urgent issues in the field of human and civil rights and freedoms.

Within the framework of cooperation with the People’s Advocate (Ombudsman) of Moldova, the parties agreed to exchange experience in supporting migrants, as well as ensuring the electoral rights of citizens who vote outside their country.

Atyr Abdrakhmatova noted that memorandums with colleagues from Uzbekistan, Russia, Kazakhstan and Moldova were signed in accordance with the generally recognized principles and norms of international law, which improved cooperation with colleagues from other states and made it possible to increase efficiency in protecting the rights of Kyrgyzstanis living abroad.
