Kyrgyzstan to fully provide itself with meat this year

The Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan plans to achieve self-sufficiency in socially important goods at the level of 85 percent in the coming years. The head of the ministry Askarbek Dzhanybekov told at a briefing.

«This year we will reach 100 percent meat supply. The deadline for sugar plans is 2025. However, in 2024, 85-90 percent self-sufficiency is guaranteed. As for chicken eggs, it is planned to achieve 85 percent self-sufficiency by 2025. This year we have received a good harvest of food wheat. Last year, we provided ourselves by 40 percent. Therefore, import of part of the volumes continues,» he said.

According to him, wheat imports from Kazakhstan decreased due to the normalization of the domestic market, as well as for economic reasons. Part of the import comes to the republic from Russia.
