The business sector of Kyrgyzstan, together with experts, proposes to approve a list of technologies, equipment and its components that meet the requirements of energy and resource efficiency, subject to exemption from VAT on imports and exports. Green Alliance reports.
The ideas were presented to the Ministry of Economy and Commerce. According to the Tax Code, import of 30 types of equipment and its components that meet the requirements of energy and resource efficiency is currently exempt from VAT. In addition, buildings, premises and structures that meet the requirements of energy and resource efficiency are exempt from property tax in the amount of 50 percent.
«But now, for the next stage in building a public-private dialogue, it is necessary to adopt an appropriate resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers, which will make it possible to put into effect the adopted innovations in the Tax Code. The work is going in the right direction, private business and we want to exempt from taxes green technologies that have energy and resource efficiency qualities. Prices for these technologies are quite high, which is why work is underway to exempt them from VAT. It is necessary that innovations become more accessible to the population, and prices, accordingly, will become lower,» Ermek Ashyrov, head of the Strategic Planning Department of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, concluded.
