Head of the Osh branch of Interbilim International Center, Gulgaky Mamasalieva, made a speech at the annual OSCE Human Dimension Conference in Warsaw. Video of her speech has been posted on the organization’s YouTube channel.
The report was devoted to the act of aggression of Tajikistan at the border with Kyrgyzstan. The human rights activist asked for assistance in investigating border conflicts. She stressed that Tajikistan’s actions «threaten the territorial integrity of Kyrgyzstan.»
«Many families were subjected to military terror for the second time, which indicates the systematic displacement of the Kyrgyz population from their ancestral land. We tend to think that the intensification of aggressive actions on the part of Tajikistan are connected and consonant with the military conflicts that have occurred on the territory of other countries, and pose a threat to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state,» said Gulgaky Mamasalieva.
Emergency situation has been introduced in Batken region. Shooting began at several sites of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the morning of September 16. Settlements in Leilek and Batken district came under fire. The Ministry of Health reported 206 victims, 63 people were killed. As a result of the armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, residents of seven villages in Batken and Leilek districts, as well as Dzhekendi village in Chon-Alai district of Osh region, left their homes.
The Prosecutor General’s Office of Kyrgyzstan opened a criminal case on crimes against peace.
