Citizen of Azerbaijan detained with large amount of fake dollars in Bishkek

An Azerbaijani citizen was detained in Bishkek while trying to utter a large batch of counterfeit dollars. Press center of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan reported.

«Information was received that a clandestine group was operating in the capital. To finance the international terrorist organization, its members were engaged in uttering counterfeit foreign currency on a large scale. The Azerbaijani citizen was detained on July 21 while trying to utter fake $3,800,» the statement says.

During a search at the place of his temporary residence, counterfeit banknotes in the amount of $17,400 were found and seized. The detainee was placed in the remand prison of the State Committee for National Security. The investigation is ongoing.
