SCNS of Kyrgyzstan refutes acquisition of Bayraktar UAVs by Tajikistan

Information about the acquisition by the Tajik side of the Turkish Bayraktar unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is unverified. Press center of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) reported.

According to the available data of the Kyrgyz special services, the Tajik side did not conclude contracts with the manufacturer of Bayraktar UAVs, the Baykar Makina company, as well as with other Turkish manufacturers.

«Kyrgyzstan pursues a policy of peace and good neighborliness, makes every effort to maintain stability and security in the Central Asian region. The Turkish UAVs purchased by the Kyrgyz side are intended exclusively for defensive purposes against the backdrop of the continuing high level of terrorist and religious extremist threat to the states of Central Asia in connection with the situation in Afghanistan. The Kyrgyz side has never adhered to and will not adhere to an aggressive policy towards neighboring countries,» the SCNS stressed.

On April 27, the Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev confirmed that the Tajik side had purchased UAVs from Turkey.
