Emergencies Ministry evacuates over 600 people in Batken region

In connection with the shootout on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan evacuated more than 600 people in Batken region. Press service of the ministry reported.

In total, 644 citizens have been accommodated in temporary centers in the region, 53 of them are men, 246 women and 345 children. In total, the ministry has prepared 13 temporary accommodation centers for 1,700 people.

In addition, residents of Dastuk, Arka, Borborduk, Zhashtyk, Maksat villages were accommodated in Margun and Beshkent villages. Citizens living in International, Kulundu, Razzakov, Ak-Aryk, Bulak-Bashi villages were evacuated to Razzakov town. Residents of Eskioochu village were evacuated to temporary places of residence in Laili village.

Residents of Orto-Boz village were accommodated in Ak-Sai village and people living in Samarkandek village moved to the city of Batken and Ravat village.

The deputy head of the district Maksatai Karimberdieva told 24.kg news agency earlier that more than 17,000 residents of Leilek evacuated on their own from the border villages of Leilek district, Batken region, fleeing from the shelling by the Tajik military.

Another shootout occurred at night on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border. The border guards of the Republic of Tajikistan opened fire on the servicemen of the Kyrgyz Republic at about 9.17 p.m. during a meeting of border representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, who arrived at the scene of the incident as a reinforcement. After midnight, the parties agreed to withdraw additional forces to the points of their permanent deployment.
