According to the media outlet, the meeting came after the Biden administration rejected a plan from Poland that would involve U.S. involvement in providing fighter jets to Ukraine. U.S. defense officials also have distanced themselves from Ukraine requests for a NATO-backed no-fly zone over the country.
In addition, Harris said the United States would provide $50 million in humanitarian aid, saying that the excessive number of refugees was an extraordinary burden on Poland and the Polish people. According to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, the country has received more than 1.4 million Ukrainian refugees.
The situation in Ukraine remains complicated. Fighting continues. Russia started a special military operation on February 24, 2022. The number of military and civilian casualties continues to grow.
