Cabinet of Ministers revises medium-term plans due to global situation

The Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan will have to revise some medium-term plans due to a significant deterioration of the international economic situation. The Deputy Prime Minister Edil Baisalov said at a meeting with the Regional Director of the United Nations Development Coordination Office for Europe and Central Asia Gwi-Yeop Son.

The regional director's visit to Kyrgyzstan is aimed at continuing dialogue with the Cabinet, development partners and civil society on implementation of the UN reforms.

Edil Baisalov informed the UN representatives on the current situation in the socio-economic sphere and the Cabinet's plans for the near future. Afterwards, the sides discussed current issues. He said that the main focus in the coming months would be on mitigating the impact of external factors on vulnerable groups of population.

Edil Baisalov assured of Kyrgyzstan's commitment to the UN's sustainable development goals.

The meeting participants then touched upon cooperation in the framework of the implementation of development programmes.

The Deputy Prime Minister voiced the priorities of Kyrgyzstan's cooperation with the United Nations during the next phase of the Country Programme Document 2023-2027.
