Ukraine confirmed holding of negotiations in Gomel Oblast of Belarus. RIA Novosti reported with reference to the head of the Russian delegation, Presidential Aide Vladimir Medinsky.
According to him, Ukraine agreed to hold talks in Gomel.
«We were about to leave, but received confirmation of the negotiations from the Ukrainian side,» Vladimir Medinsky said.
Earlier it was reported that a delegation from Russia was waiting for negotiations with Ukraine in Belarus, they arrived in the city of Gomel. However, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that he did not agree to negotiations with the Russian Federation in Belarus. Then he called the country’s leader Alexander Lukashenko.
Today is the fourth day of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine. It started on February 24, 2022. On February 25, fighting took place in the north, south and east of the country. Some cities are either blocked or captured. The number of casualties among the military and civilians continues to grow. Western states impose tough sanctions against the Russian Federation, but they refused to fight in Ukraine.
On February 26, the Spokesman for the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the military operation would continue after Ukraine refused to negotiate.
