Sadyr Japarov: Railway from China to Central Asia is a flagship project

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov made a speech at the online summit of the heads of state of Central Asia and China on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Press service of the head of state reported.

Sadyr Japarov recalled that Kyrgyzstan was one of the first to support it, which is connected, among other things, with historical prerequisites and is in line with the spirit of the strategic partnership.

«Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to the joint implementation of this large-scale undertaking, which is ultimately aimed at the harmonious coexistence and aligned development of different countries. At the same time, the One Belt, One Road initiative creates ample opportunities for the socio-economic transformation of the entire region,» he said.

The President expressed confidence that the further successful implementation of the initiative would contribute to the deepening and expansion of economic partnership, improvement of infrastructure and cultural interaction in Central Asia.

«Today’s reality dictates the need for the effective implementation of joint infrastructure programs to open new international routes for road and rail transportation in the region,» he stressed.

The head of state emphasized that the construction of China — Kyrgyzstan — Uzbekistan railway should become a flagship project within the framework of the One Belt, One Road initiative and a significant step towards the full fulfillment of the local communications potential.

Sadyr Japarov expressed the opinion that the improvement of the transport system would attract additional volumes of international transit traffic, and would also contribute to a significant increase in trade between China and the Central Asian states.

In order to maintain business activity and further increase trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, the head of state considers it extremely important to ensure regular cargo flow between the countries of Central Asia and China while simultaneously optimizing the operation of checkpoints.

He noted the need to continue work on improving the efficiency of green corridors for unhindered import and export, including equipment and machinery for socially significant facilities and economic projects.

Sadyr Japarov expressed confidence that in the future the efforts of the Central Asian states and China would be aimed at deepening and expanding mutually beneficial economic, financial, investment, innovation, cultural and humanitarian cooperation within the framework of the One Belt, One Road strategic initiative.
