At least 17,000 elderly people do not get pensions in Kyrgyzstan. The Deputy Chairwoman of the Social Fund Gulnara Dzhumataeva said at the meeting of the parliamentary committee on social policy.
According to her, these citizens do not receive pensions for various reasons.
«There are 549,000 pensioners in total. As you know, the retirement age for men is 63 years, women — 58. Some 17,758 people do not пуе a pension for various reasons, some do not have archive documents or employment records. There are those who have been abroad all the time. For example, we were recently approached by a woman who worked in the United States for 20 years. Some, despite their age, simply do not apply for payment of a pension, because there is no need for them to do it,» Gulnara Dzhumataeva told.
According to her, others in need, who are left without a pension, apply for benefits. A total of 1,500 people receive 1,000 soms in form of benefit.
The President returned with objections a bill passed by the Parliament last October to simplify the procedure of applying for a pension.
