Local police officers check documents of foreigners in the capital of Kazakhstan. Sputnik Kazakhstan reported with reference to the commandant of Nur-Sultan Yerzhan Sadenov.
It is noted that checks are carried out in hostels, rented apartments. At least 161 foreigners were taken to the police stations to check the legality of their stay in the capital.
«Keep calm and order in the city. Do not violate the established curfew regime. Any illegal actions will be strictly suppressed,» Yerzhan Sadenov addressed the residents of Nur-Sultan earlier.
Mass protests in Kazakhstan began on January 2,2022. Residents of Zhanaozen and Aktau in Mangistau region opposed the increase in prices for liquefied gas, then the protests spread to other cities. President of the republic Kassym-Jomart Tokayev introduced a state of emergency in the republic, dismissed the government and became the head of the Security Council.
