Consideration of criminal case on modernization of the Bishkek Heating and Power Plant continues in Sverdlovsk District Court of Bishkek. The hearing is chaired by the Judge Inara Gilyazetdinova.
During the trial, the judge stated that the period of detention of all defendants expired. By law, it is necessary to resolve the issue of further preventive measures. She asked the opinion of the parties.
The state prosecutors said that it was necessary to extend the preventive measure, since the accused had committed a particularly serious crime and could escape.
Lawyers opposed, noting that some, namely Salaydin Avazov, Aibek Kaliev and Zholdoshbek Nazarov, have been in jail for a year already. By law, they are subject to release from custody.
In addition, lawyers noted that the defendants would not flee.
Coming out of the deliberation room, the judge extended the term of detention of the accused until June 12.
In addition, Inara Gilyazetdinova did not grant the petition to change the preventive measure for Salaidin Avazov and Osmonbek Artykbaev.
Recall, former prime ministers Sapar Isakov and Jantoro Satybaldiev, deputy of the Parliament Osmonbek Artykbaev, top managers of the energy sector Salaidin Avazov and Aibek Kaliev are kept in detention center of the State Committee for National Security. Only the ex-Finance Minister Olga Lavrova is under house arrest.
All of them are charged with abuse of office and corruption.
