Russia remains one of key investors for Kyrgyzstan

«Russia remains one of the key investors for Kyrgyzstan. Share of Russian investments in the economy of the Kyrgyz Republic is 22 percent,» Daniyar Imanaliev, head of the Strategic Development Policy, Economy and Finances Department of the Presidential Administration of Kyrgyzstan, said today during a round table discussion.

According to him, in 2018, the trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Russia amounted to $ 1.5 billion. Compared with last year, the figure increased by 3.7 percent. The share of the Russian Federation in the total volume of trade turnover of the Kyrgyz Republic is 24 percent.

«As of today, textile and clothing, food and engineering products dominate in the export of goods from Kyrgyzstan to Russia. But even the growing trade indicators do not unlock the potential for trade between the countries. As for direct investment, the Russian Federation remains one of the key investors. In 2018, the inflow of investments from Russia amounted to $ 123 million, increasing by 25 percent, in contrast to 2017. At the time, 638 joint Kyrgyzstan — Russia ventures and 291 companies with net Russian capital operate in the Kyrgyz Republic. For five years, the priority sectors for investment were energy industry, financial activities, trade and manufacturing,» Daniyar Imanaliev stressed.
