100 criminal cases for 8 years. President tells about corruption in subsoil use

Corruption in the mining industry of Kyrgyzstan is proved by the living conditions of the former officials in charge of this sphere. The President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov told at a meeting of the Security Council on Measures to Ensure Security in Subsoil Use Sphere in the Kyrgyz Republic.

According to him, 2,571 licenses have been issued over the years of independence. They were sold like on a market, taking into account the interests of a narrow circle of people, mainly of officials. As the head of state noted, the proof of this was the high welfare of officials from this sphere.

Sooronbai Jeenbekov recalled that criminal cases on charges of corruption were initiated from 2009 to 2018 against five chairmen of the State Committee for Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use.

Over the past eight years, about 100 criminal cases have been initiated against officials of the State Committee for Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use and private entrepreneurs.
