Sapar Isakov faces up to 20 years in prison

Former Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sapar Isakov was finally charged under corruption article. His lawyer Nurbek Toktakunov informed 24.kg news agency.

According to him, the former head of the Cabinet faces up to 20 years in prison. He is accused of causing significant material damage to the state by prior criminal conspiracy. Sapar Isakov is charged with part 2 of Article 303 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The former prime minister was arrested on corruption charges within the criminal case on modernization of Bishkek’s Heating and Power Plant. Speaking at a court hearing on choosing a preventive measure on December 18, he said that he was a victim of political persecution. Sapar Isakov will be in custody at SCNS pretrial detention center until February 13.
