Corruptionists should be shamed publicly, President believes

The President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov made an appeal on the occasion of the International Anti-Corruption Day.

«December 9 is the International Anti-Corruption Day at the initiative of the United Nations. This day once again gives reason to think about this global problem, how to prevent and combat corruption. Corruption is a disease affecting all spheres of society, hindering the effective development of a state. It breeds inequality and injustice. Therefore, the fight against this evil is a priority of state policy. The underlying principles of this policy are the rule of law, justice and the inevitability of punishment,» the statement says.

According to the president of the country, despite the opposition of those who want to enrich themselves illegally at the expense of ordinary citizens and the state treasury, a lot has been done during the year.

«The focus is on eliminating the causes of corruption. Measures are being taken to eliminate the human factor and contacts of civil servants with citizens, protect entrepreneurs from unwarranted interference in their business, from frequent illegal inspections,» noted Sooronbai Jeenbekov.

We began to break the established system of withdrawal of officials from responsibility when everyone registered relatives, some people as owners of property.

The active participation of civil society gives additional impetus to the fight against corruption. Only by joint efforts we can defeat this evil, the head of state stressed.

«People who abuse state powers for the sake of their own pockets should not only be punished according to the law, but should be subject to public shame,» the appeal says.

«I am convinced that the joint efforts of all branches of government, of the whole society, aimed at eradicating corruption, will bring real positive results that will allow us to find new growth points and build a fair, reasonably organized and economically efficient society,» Sooronbai Jeenbekov summed up.
