Lawyers appeal measure of restraint to former head of National Energy Holding

Lawyers appealed the measure of restraint to the former head of the National Energy Holding Company Aibek Kaliev. The lawyer Baktybek Zhumashev informed 24.kg news agency.

According to him, Aibek Kaliev was taken into custody in the pretrial detention center of the State Committee for National Security on corruption charges. «He should be under arrest until June 13, but the Bishkek City Court has not set the date for consideration of our appeal so far,» Baktybek Zhumashev noted.

At least seven former top managers of the energy industry were arrested within investigation of 5 criminal cases on modernization of Bishkek HPP, including the former head of the Energy Holding Aibek Kaliev, and the former general director of Electric Stations OJSC Salaidin Avazov. All of them were charged with corruption.

The former Prime Minister Sapar Isakov, the ex-mayor of Bishkek Kubanychbek Kulmatov and the deputy of the Parliament from SDPK faction Osmonbek Artykbayev were also charged with corruption.
