Kyrgyzstan not oppose veterinary posts on border with Kazakhstan

«Veterinary posts of Kazakhstan on the border with Kyrgyzstan do not bother anyone. This is beneficial for us,» Kalysbek Zhumakanov, Director of the State Inspectorate for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Safety of the Kyrgyz Republic, said at a press conference today.

According to him, only Kazakhstan out of countries-members of the Eurasian Economic Union had claims because of cattle diseases in Kyrgyzstan. «The southern region of Kazakhstan has received the status of epizootic welfare. We also applied to the International Epizootic Bureau. We are waiting for their evaluation on 46 items,» said the head of the inspectorate.

«And the veterinary posts of neighbors on the border are beneficial for us. For example, there is an outbreak of nodular dermatitis in the world, and there are no effective vaccines against it. Therefore, we have now strengthened the control in imports of the livestock,» said Kalysbek Zhumakanov.

Kyrgyzstan has joined EEU in August 2015. Despite the terms of the organization, Kazakhstan had kept phytosanitary posts on the borders with the Kyrgyz Republic.
