National Bank not guarantee security of investments in cryptocurrency

«The National Bank can not guarantee the security of investments of Kyrgyzstanis in the cryptocurrency,» its Chairman, Tolkunbek Abdygulov, said at a press conference today.

According to him, only the Kyrgyz som is the official means of payment in Kyrgyzstan, which the National Bank is responsible for. All other currencies, the issuer of which is not the National Bank, can not be considered reliable.

«People can invest in them, but the National Bank is not responsible for their security. Today there are a lot of opinions about cryptocurrency and blockchain. There are also the opinions of venerable economists, chairmen of European central banks that this is another financial bubble. We always recommend to Kyrgyzstanis a simple system of savings: to store 30 percent of the funds in national currency, 30 percent — in foreign currency and the third — in gold,» Tolkunbek Abuligulov stressed.
