Kazakhstan needs to protect its investments in Kyrgyzstan peacefully

«Kazakhstan needs to protect its investments in Kyrgyzstan by peaceful means,» an economic commentator from Kazakhstan Dmitry Krivosheyev told 24.kg news agency.

According to him, now it is difficult to say how and when the current situation will be resolved and whether it is done centrally, that is, at the suggestion of the leadership of Kazakhstan. After all, as it became known yesterday, the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sapar Isakov met with the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and the latter promised to solve the situation on the border.

It is difficult to talk about how Kazakhstan’s authorities will react to external challenges from Kyrgyzstan.

Dmitry Krivosheyev

«I can say that the society of Kazakhstan is now divided into two impressive camps. Some, including myself, are of the opinion that one shouldn’t pay attention to the attacks of the president of Kyrgyzstan. And certainly there is no need to reduce the amount of assistance. On the contrary, I believe that we need to actively increase cooperation, allocate the planned $ 41 million for adapting the economy of Kyrgyzstan to the standards of the EEU,» Dmitry Krivosheyev is confident.

However, there are also those in Kazakhstan who support unstable relations between the two countries. Such people are also surrounded by President Nursultan Nazarbayev. They believe that the words of Almazbek Atambayev should be reacted accordingly.

«And judging by how events develop, their point of view is now dominant,» the economic observer believes.

The expert is sure that not only the situation at the border can become more complicated. After all, the territory of Kazakhstan is followed by railway trains to Kyrgyzstan. Most often they are hardly checked. Now the situation can change dramatically. This applies to buses and freight.

«Dordoi» strongly hinders domestic trade in Kazakhstan. Many tobacco companies simply «howl» from smuggling cigarettes from Kyrgyzstan. But so far this hasn’t been given special attention. Now the security officials can start to inspect all the cargoes more carefully. In any case, so far it is only about the economy," Dmitry Krivosheyev said.

Now it is important to maintain stability in relations between the two countries by any means and cooperate as much as possible.

Dmitry Krivosheyev

«I believe that there is no need to aggravate the situation, because an aggressive manner of response can only aggravate the situation inside Kyrgyzstan. If the escalation inside Kyrgyzstan comes to a conflict, it will only get worse. In Kyrgyzstan, the largest Kazakh companies run their business. Of course, we need to protect our investments, but peacefully. If we increase the conflicting sentiments in Kyrgyzstan, then the events of 2005 and 2010 can repeat. And then the investment will definitely suffer, there may be a redistribution of property,» the expert concluded.
