Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United States and Canada Bakyt Amanbaev met with Assistant Secretary of State for Central and South Asian Affairs Donald Lu.
They discussed current issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, and outlined priority areas for further joint work.
The Ambassador raised the issue of extending the validity of American visas for Kyrgyz students from one year to five years, expressed a request for assistance in opening correspondent accounts between Kyrgyz and American banks, and proposed launching projects aimed at temporarily attracting Kyrgyz truck drivers and nurses to the United States. In addition, he presented his proposals for strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations in the future.
Donald Lu expressed support for the initiative to extend the validity of visas for students from the Kyrgyz Republic and proposed specific steps to implement this measure. The American side also presented its ideas for further development of bilateral and multilateral partnership. Following the meeting, the parties agreed on joint actions to achieve mutually beneficial cooperation in the future.
