Since the beginning of 2024, smart meters have been installed at 12,713 households in Issyk-Kul region. The press service of the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan reported.
As part of the first stage of the project, together with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, 19,690 smart meters were installed in the region in 2022, and 17,704 — in 2023.
Issyk-Kul PES supplies electricity to 129,641 consumers, 55,606 of whom use smart meters.
Their installation will ensure remote reading of metering data without disturbing consumers, and the ability to remotely disconnect and then connect consumers.
«Such steps to modernize the energy sector are aimed primarily at ensuring efficiency and savings, as well as improving the quality of customer service,» the Ministry of Energy noted.
