A new register of non-profit and non-governmental organizations registered and operating in the country has appeared on the website of the Ministry of Justice of Kyrgyzstan.
The list so far includes only three organizations: two associations of entrepreneurs — Eurasian Business Club and JIA. There is also a branch of Fauna & Flora company. It operates in the field of environmental protection.
The ministry reported that the acceptance of applications from NGOs for inclusion in the register of the Ministry of Justice has just begun — the Cabinet’s resolution «On measures to implement the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic On Non-profit Organizations» came into force on September 9.
The Ministry of Justice will accept applications for two months. During this period, representatives of the civil sector, who receive funding from outside and are engaged in «political activities», must submit an application for inclusion in the register. If they violate the law, then the liquidation procedure may be applied to such NGOs.
On March 14, the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan adopted in the third reading a bill on «foreign representatives» (analogous to a foreign agent in Russian legislation), officially known as the draft law «On Amendments to the Law «On Non-Commercial Organizations.»
President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov signed the law on April 2.
