Saudi Arabia to help Kyrgyzstan develop civil defense

Saudi Arabia will help Kyrgyzstan develop civil defense. The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.

Emergency Situations Minister Boobek Azhikeev met with the Director General of Civil Defense of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Hamoud bin Suleiman Al-Faraj.

The parties signed a plan for promising cooperation between the departments of the two countries. Boobek Azhikeev noted that the document will serve as a roadmap for the further development of Kyrgyzstan-Saudi Arabia relations in the field of civil defense and emergency situations.

Participants of the meeting discussed cooperation in the following areas:

  • Training of Kyrgyz rescuers, firefighters and divers in training centers in Saudi Arabia;
  • Exchange of experience and organization of mutual internships for specialists of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic and the General Directorate of Civil Defense of Saudi Arabia on an ongoing basis;
  • Holding of joint exercises and training of rescue and fire units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic and the General Directorate of Civil Defense of Saudi Arabia;
  • Joint use of modern information technologies in the form of exchanging space images, providing statistical data on large-scale emergencies;
  • Exchange of experience in informing the population about the threat of occurrence or occurrence of emergency situations;
  • Participation of rescuers and divers from Saudi Arabia in courses on mountain and diving training organized in the Kyrgyz Republic under the auspices of the ICDO;
  • Possibility of providing technical assistance by the Saudi side on a grant basis in the form of special equipment to increase the potential of fire, diving, aviation and engineering units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic in the form of special engineering, fire, helicopter equipment (SUVs, trucks, fire ladders) and unmanned aerial vehicles, diving equipment and gear;
  • Possibility of providing assistance in equipping rescue units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic with modern emergency rescue equipment for the purpose of the Kyrgyz Republic’s joining the international network INSARAG — the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group.
  • Implementation of joint projects in the field of emergency prevention and response through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre.

Following the negotiations, a ceremony of signing of a long-term plan for bilateral cooperation for 2024-2027 took place.
