Portfolio of projects of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) at year-end 2023 increased more than 1.6 times compared to 2022 and amounted to $101.5 million. It was announced at a meeting of Finance Minister of Kyrgyzstan Almaz Baketaev with the Chairman of the EDB Board Nikolai Podguzov.
The latter noted that a significant growth of the bank’s investment portfolio in Kyrgyzstan was achieved last year. It amounted to 61.6 percent of the investments planned in the country strategy for 2022-2026.
Today, the EDB is financing the construction of Kulanak HPP with a capacity of 100 megawatts and a new clinker burning line at Kant cement plant. Implementation of three projects worth $4.2 million began in 2023 through the bank’s Technical Assistance Fund.
«In 2024, the EDB will keep its focus on intensifying project activities in the Kyrgyz Republic in priority areas: implementation of projects within the framework of the megaprojects «Water and Energy Complex of Central Asia» and «Eurasian Transport Framework», in the field of green energy, utilities, industry, digitalization,» Nikolai Podguzov said.
