The President of Kyrgyzstan held talks with the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the UAE.
Sadyr Japarov and Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei discussed issues of enhancing cooperation, in particular in the trade, economic, investment and energy sectors.
The head of state thanked for the invitation to participate in the high-level segment of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Sadyr Japarov noted that the UAE has advanced experience and initiatives in the fight against climate change, and expressed confidence that the issues raised at the summit would soon yield results.
He stressed that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to the development of friendly relations with the UAE. According to him, the signing of a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, Masdar company and the French company Electricité de France will open up very interesting prospects for cooperation in the field of hydropower.
Sadyr Japarov also focused on the fact that it would be good to coordinate in detail and identify joint projects that will be implemented in Kyrgyzstan in the near future.
Kyrgyzstan has great energy potential, but today the percentage of water and energy potential development is only 13 percent. The need to widely apply green technologies, introduce and develop renewable energy sources was stressed.
Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei raised issues related to the implementation of joint projects in energy, hydropower industries and the development of renewable energy sources, in particular with Masdar.
He expressed confidence that the project will be successful and will bring large investments to Kyrgyzstan. In addition, he noted the readiness of the UAE side to share its experience in the energy sector and provide the necessary consultations.
