Kyrgyzstani sentenced to 5 years in prison for kidnapping of children in Russia

The Kirovsky District Court of Novosibirsk city (Russia) sentenced a 28-year-old citizen of Kyrgyzstan to five years and one month in a maximum security penal colony. The investigators found out that he kidnapped three children of his friend and demanded 15,000 rubles as a ransom for their return. The Department of the Investigative Committee for Novosibirsk Oblast reported.

The Kyrgyzstani came to Novosibirsk to work and lived there with his friend, who had five minor children.

«In December 2022, a man had a criminal intent to kidnap three children of his friend in order to improve his financial situation, namely, to receive money in the amount of 15,000 rubles for the return of the children,» the statement says.

He took three children, documents for an apartment and left for Tomsk to later leave Russia. However, the man was detained by police at the railway station.

The court found the citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic guilty of abduction of minors for mercenary motives and sentenced him to five years and one month of imprisonment to be served in maximum security penal colony.
