Russia opens cases against Central Asia natives for military service evasion

Investigative authorities of Russia have opened 22 criminal cases on the fact of evasion of military service against natives of Central Asia, who previously obtained citizenship of the Russian Federation. More than 80 citizens have been sent to serve in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The Telegram channel of the Investigative Committee for Moscow reports.

It is noted that investigators, together with employees of the Moscow military commissariats, are studying the personal files of conscripts in order to identify persons evading military service. As part of the work being carried out, the body of inquiry was given instructions to carry out investigative measures aimed at establishing the whereabouts of persons evading military service, and checking the legality of the evaders’ acquisition of Russian citizenship.

In connection with this, the investigative body is bringing to the attention of the public that, according to Article 24 of the Federal Law 138 «On Citizenship of the Russian Federation», citizenship of the Russian Federation is terminated if the citizen who obtained it has committed one of the crimes, including evading military service and alternative civil service.

Earlier it became known that the finalist of the show «Perepoi Zvezdu» (Star Cover) on Channel One, Mamut Usenov, was taken to the front. He is a native of Ukraine, but in 2014 he obtained Russian citizenship in Crimea.
