Officials tell about situation with fuel and lubricants and diesel fuel

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan informed about the situation with prices for fuels and lubricants as of October 25, 2023.

It is noted that the global oil and petroleum products market is currently characterized by rising prices.

«It should be noted that fuels and lubricants are an exchange commodity, for this reason prices directly depend on exchange quotations and prices at Russian oil refineries. Basically, supplies of fuel and lubricants to Kyrgyzstan are carried out from Russian refineries (Omsk, Orsk, Angarsk, Bashneft), since our republic remains import-dependent in this market and prices depend on external factors,» the statement says.

According to the ministry, as part of the indicative balance on the part of the Russian Federation, the volume of duty-free supplies of fuel and lubricants has been increased to the level of last year.

The annual demand for petroleum products in the Kyrgyz Republic is about 1.4 million tons. The average daily consumption of gasoline is 1,781 tons, diesel fuel — 1,507 tons (total 3,288).

Prices for fuels and lubricants in Kyrgyzstan depend on the prices at oil refineries in Russia. But they are not directly related to domestic prices in Russia, both wholesale and retail ones. In addition, in Kyrgyzstan, prices on the fuel and lubricants market are formed by subjects independently, based on market conditions, that is, supply and demand, without government regulation.

As a result of the work carried out by the Antimonopoly Regulation Service together with the Association of Oil Traders of Kyrgyzstan and the relevant government bodies, prices for fuels and lubricants (AI 92 and diesel fuel) remain stable, the ministry concluded.
