Deputy of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Mirlan Samyikozho opposed an agreement with China on the mutual creation of Cultural Centers. He said this at the meeting.
Earlier, the deputies approved in three readings a bill on the ratification of the agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and the Government of China on the mutual creation of Cultural Centers, signed in the city of Xi’an on May 18, 2023. The agreement was reached during the visit of President Sadyr Japarov to the PRC in February 2022. Cultural Centers will be located in the cities of Beijing and Bishkek.
Mirlan Samyikozho expressed fears that the creation of Cultural Centers in the capital could absorb local culture.
«I don’t know why we were in such a hurry to pass the bill in three readings at once without deep discussion. Before opening (foreign) cultural centers, we first need to develop our culture. Previously, no one paid due attention to this area, and now only 670 million soms are allocated... When will we start talking about the development of our culture,» he said.
The deputy asks the president of the country to carefully study the document when signing it.
