A solemn ceremony of opening an active phase of the joint exercises with the peacekeeping forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Indestructible Brotherhood 2023 took place today at the Edelweiss training ground. The Ministry of Defense of Kyrgyzstan reported.
National contingents of the peacekeeping forces of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan, operational groups of the joint headquarters and the CSTO Secretariat are taking part in the exercises.
In total, about 1,500 military personnel, more than 200 units of special, armored and automotive equipment, military transport, fighter and army aircraft, aviation, and combat boats are involved in the exercises.
The main goals of the exercises are to improve the practical skills of government officials and personnel of the CSTO peacekeeping units, to enhance the coherence of military units and subunits when performing tasks during a peacekeeping operation in the Central Asian collective security region.
Practical actions include the implementation by the Collective peacekeeping forces, together with units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the State Committee for National Security of the CSTO states, of combat training tasks at checkpoints and casualty reception points, while escorting convoys and cargo, liberating a populated area, rescuing «hostages» and providing humanitarian assistance.
