City Hall of Bishkek is considering reduction of the width of the dedicated (yellow) lane on the Southern highway. Mayor of Bishkek Emilbek Abdykadyrov said at a meeting of the Parliament.
According to MP Marlen Mamataliev, it is necessary to narrow the lane intended for public transport.
«Maybe you will reconsider the width of the dedicated lane for public transport? In Istanbul, China its size is the same as a bus. And your lanes would fit two more cars. Four cars used to fit on the Southern highway, now only two,» the MP said.
The mayor replied that the City Hall received proposals on this issue.
«We are considering them. The width was 3.1 meters, now we want to narrow it to 2.8 meters. We will take this point into account on the next lanes,» Emilbek Abdykadyrov said.
Recall, a dedicated lane for public transport was for the first time introduced in Bishkek on August 31.
