The President of the Kyrgyz Republic met with the Head of the Republic of Tajikistan on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York (USA).
Sadyr Japarov and Emomali Rahmon discussed priority areas and prospects of Kyrgyzstan — Tajikistan bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
The parties paid special attention to the delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border, as well as exchanged views on other topics.
Earlier, the head of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic Kamchybek Tashiev urged the authorities of Tajikistan to give up territorial claims to Kyrgyzstan.
«If the neighboring country does not give up its territorial claims, we will also make them. We have the strength and capabilities to do it. We have the opportunity to return our lands, which were transferred to the Republic of Tajikistan dozens, if not hundreds of years ago,» he said.
Immediately afterwards, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kyrgyzstan to Tajikistan Erlan Abdyldayev was invited to the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Tajikistan. It was noted that during the conversation the Ambassador was informed about the concern of the Tajik side about the statements made by the high state official of the Kyrgyz Republic on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border issues that appeared in the information space on September 15.
