Former director of the Agency for Promotion and Protection of Investments is suspected of extorting $300,000 from a presidential aide. Press center of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) reported.
The SCNS opened a criminal case on the fact under Article 208 (Extortion) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The former official, blackmailing and threatening to disseminate provocative materials allegedly in his possession, began to demand money from the assistant to the head of state.
On September 6, as a result of investigative and operational measures, the suspect was caught red-handed after receiving part of the amount he extorted. He was placed in the temporary detention center of the SCNS.
