Minister of Education comments on detention of school principals

Detention of school principals for bribes is a shame for the entire education system. The Minister of Education of Kyrgyzstan Kanybek Imanaliev announced at a meeting with the participation of the heads of the capital’s educational institutions.

According to him, the preparatory work went on for three months to hold the August conference of teachers.

«And we held it good, and in the evening information was received about the detention of a school director. The country has been preparing for half a year to celebrate the Independence Day at a high level in Osh with the participation of the President, and another detention in the evening. The Day of Knowledge is a holiday for all of us, and on this day, the third director was detained. What a disgrace! This is a disgrace to the entire education system! We decided to urgently meet, learn lessons so that such shameful incidents would not happen in the future,» Kanybek Imanaliev said.

He considers it necessary to deprive those who are caught with money of the status of a teacher. «In order they to go disgraced for life, otherwise we will not be able to change the situation. I have 90,000 teachers, and whether I should look after each of them or what? I have to make reforms,» the minister said.

Earlier, the State Committee for National Security reported that four school directors were detained in Bishkek for bribes in a week.
