A lane for public transport was introduced in Bishkek for the first time. Press service of the City Hall of the capital reported.
It noted that the urban transport moving along special lanes can successfully compete with other cars during rush hours, which will reduce downtime in traffic jams.
According to the City Hall, this will not only improve traffic conditions, but also reduce the overall environmental burden.
«This is one of the possible solutions to reduce traffic congestion, improve quality and create priority conditions for vehicles,» the statement says.
According to the decision of the Commission of the Headquarters for Development of Road Transport Infrastructure of Bishkek dated August 4, a decision was made to organize and equip roads for public transport lanes along Tokombaev Street on the segment from Baitik Baatyr Street to Nurkamal Zhetikashkaeva Street in the 12th microdistrict (in the western and eastern directions).
The Department of Transport is working on road marking and installation of road signs. Work is expected to be completed by September 1.
