Prosecutor General Zulushev becomes head of International Kok-Boru Association

The Prosecutor General of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kurmankul Zulushev, was elected the Chairman of the International Kok-Boru Association. The decision was made at the congress of the organization, which took place on the shore of Issyk-Kul lake in Cholpon-Ata city.

Leaders and representatives of 14 national federations from 9 countries participated in the congress. The International Kok-Boru Federation was transformed into the International Association.

Kurmankul Zulushev was elected the President of the Association, the Vice Presidents — the head of the Federation of Jappai Kok Par of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gani Dirmanov, the Chairman of the Federation of Ulok Kupkari of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ravshanbek Adkhamov and the President of Kok-Boru Equestrian Games Federation (Blue Wolf) of the Altai Republic of the Russian Federation Erkin Tuzachinov.

The former vice presidents of the International Federation of this sport Askar Salymbekov and Nabijon Zhuraev (Republic of Uzbekistan) were awarded the title of «Honorary President» of the International Kok-Boru Association for their contribution to the development of kok-boru game.

«It is a great honor for us that the World Kok-Boru Championship is being held on the sacred Issyk-Kul lake, which has been mentioned since the creation of the world-famous Manas epic. As our great writer Chingiz Aitmatov said: «Blessed be the ancestors who passed us these men’s games for the fearless,» Kurmankul Zulushev noted in his speech.

The first World Kok-Boru Cup among club teams started on the shore of Issyk-Kul on August 13. It was opened by the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov.

The tournament will take place on August 13-20 at the hippodrome in Baktuu-Dolonotu village, Issyk-Kul region.

Earlier it was reported that teams from eight countries will take part in the international tournament: Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, USA, Turkey, Hungary and Mongolia.
