Cholpon-Ata hippodrome to host Kok-Boru World Cup

The Kok-Boru World Cup will be held at Cholpon-Ata hippodrome from August 13 to August 20. The President of Kok-Boru Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic Talas Begaliev told at a press conference.

According to him, teams from eight countries will take part in the international tournament. The competition will take place in three formats.

«Eight teams from Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan will compete in the first format. Our country will be represented by the major league teams Sary-Ozon, Dostuk, Yntymak, Muras. Teams from Astana, Jeti-Suu, Turkestan and the national team will take part in the tournament from Kazakhstan. At least 12 clubs from eight countries will compete in the second format. Five teams from Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Altai and Krasnoyarsk have applied for participation from Russia. Teams from the USA, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Uzbekistan, Mongolia will take part in the third format, and one team from Kyrgyzstan will also play,» Talas Begaliev said.

He noted that friendly tournaments between the teams of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan over 45 years old will be held in the third format.

According to preliminary data, the prize fund will be 5 million soms.

«Negotiations with sponsors are ongoing, and as a result, we will inform you about the prize fund additionally,» Talas Begaliev said.
