The new resolution of the National Bank introduces the norm that money transfer made through the international money transfer system is provided to the recipient on the territory of Kyrgyzstan in the currency sent by the sender and different from the national currency of the Kyrgyz Republic — som. The money transfer is canceled/ revoked from the territory of Kyrgyzstan in the currency, in which the money transfer was sent.
The decree will come into force on August 16, 2023.
«This resolution does not mean the complete abolition of restrictions. It only suspends the restrictions introduced last year. If there are signs of an outflow of foreign currency from the country, including in connection with speculative actions of unscrupulous citizens, the National Bank has the right to take an appropriate decision to protect the domestic foreign exchange market. This means that we will cancel the resolution of July 2023 and transfers will again be issued in the currency of the country of origin or in soms,» the official representative of the National Bank, Aida Karabayeva, commented to 24.kg news agency.
