Residents of Aksy district of Jalal-Abad region were detained for smuggling livestock and resisting border guards. Press center of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) reported.
Fact of cattle smuggling across a section of the state border in Aksy district was registered on July 24.
The border guards tried to detain violators of the state border, but the men, ignoring legal requirements, continued to drive cattle.
The border guards fired shots into the air, but the smugglers showed aggression and tried to attack them.
A criminal case was initiated on the fact under articles 231 «Economic smuggling», 378 «Illegal crossing of the state border» and 374 «Threat or violence against a representative of the authorities».
Five men, who were involved in the aforementioned crimes, were detained and placed in the pre-trial detention center of the SCNS in Jalal-Abad. An investigation is underway.
