The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan announced some details of the agreement on the supply of Russian gas to the country, which was signed on June 16 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The Uzbek media report.
In addition to the agreement, a road map was signed to prepare the gas transmission system of Uzbekistan for the acceptance and transportation of Russian pipeline gas. The message of the Ministry of Energy specifies that the agreement on the purchase and sale of gas was concluded by UzGasTrade and Gazprom Export for a period of two years. It was signed by the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov and Chairman of the Board of Gazprom Alexey Miller on the basis of a power of attorney.
«The agreement has been developed entirely on commercial terms and is one of the measures to partially meet the annually growing demand for gas of consumers of the republic, as well as to pass the autumn-winter season without interruptions,» the statement says.
As part of the agreement, gas supplies in the amount of 9 million cubic meters per day are expected to begin on October 1. The annual volume will amount to almost 2.8 billion cubic meters, the Energy Ministry said.
«The cost of the gas has been agreed based on market prices in the region, current prices in the country, as well as planned reforms to form prices based on market conditions,» the ministry said.
