During a working trip to Jalal-Abad region, the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov got acquainted with the modernization of Caravan airport in Kerben. Press service of the head of state reported.
Repair and restoration of the artificial surface of the elements of Caravan airfield is carried out, and the runway, which was put into operation in 1972, will be expanded.
The airport has an air terminal designed to serve domestic flights.
Regular Bishkek — Kerben — Bishkek flights were terminated in 2007 due to the lack of a commercial load.
Currently, the repair work on the modernization of Caravan airport is almost completed, the terminal is scheduled to be put into operation by the end of July.
Sadyr Japarov stressed that within the framework of the launched program for modernization of airports in the regions, everything possible is being made to improve and resume domestic flights in the regions of the country. According to him, these measures are primarily aimed at creation of comfortable conditions for citizens, development of tourism, and increasing the economic potential of the regions.
