Farmers of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan to participate in joint forum in Bishkek

More than 200 farmers and entrepreneurs from Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan will take part in Agro Exporter Forum in Bishkek. The U.S. Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic reports.

According to the diplomatic mission, Agro Exporter Forum is aimed at promoting the export of agricultural products and establishing links between Kyrgyzstan’s agricultural producers and foreign markets. The event will be held with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in partnership with Entrepreneur LLC.

The forum will take place on May 12. It is expected that it will bring together more than 200 farmers, entrepreneurs and representatives of business associations to discuss key issues of promoting the export of Kyrgyz agricultural products and establishing direct links with potential buyers from Uzbekistan. Agricultural enterprises of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan will also have the opportunity to discuss potential deals during B2B meetings.

The meeting of farmers was organized as part of USAID Agrosooda project. Over the past three years, USAID has sponsored the participation of more than 30 Kyrgyz companies in international exhibitions and attracted more than 100 Kyrgyz enterprises to participate in forums and B2B meetings with partners from Uzbekistan. This helped them establish business ties with Uzbek companies and increase the export of Kyrgyz agricultural products.

The USAID Agrosooda Project is a five-year project that aims to create more jobs, increase the income of farmers and agricultural enterprises by strengthening the value chain, and expanding regional and cross-border trade with Uzbekistan.
