Deputy proposes to reform Kyrgyz alphabet

The Kyrgyz alphabet needs reform. Deputy Nurzhigit Kadyrbekov stated at a meeting of the Parliament.

According to him, it is difficult to learn the language with the current alphabet, as there are no sounds for the correct pronunciation and recognition of words.

«This is very relevant. Those who learn the language in the south learn Uzbek instead of Kyrgyz, and those who learn it in the north — Kazakh and Tatar. There are not enough letters in the alphabet for the correct pronunciation of words. Kazakhs have two A and K letters,» Nurzhigit Kadyrbekov said.

Deputy drew attention to translations from Russian into Kyrgyz. He noted that, despite the original analogues of words, a literal translation is used, distorting the meaning.

Chairman of the National Commission for the State Language Kanybek Osmonaliev agreed with the deputy on the need to reform the alphabet. He told that a State Language Council had been created.
