Kyrgyzstan develops health security action plan

Kyrgyzstan has started developing a health security action plan. Press center of the Ministry of Health reported.

The ministry together with the WHO Regional Office for Europe holds an orientation meeting to conduct a joint external evaluation of the country’s main capabilities to implement the International Health Regulations.

Deputy Minister of Health Bakyt Dzhangaziyev noted that the joint external evaluation would allow the country to develop a plan for further actions to strengthen the health system, and also called on the meeting participants to use an all-risk approach — these are infectious diseases, food security, antimicrobial resistance and others.

The Special Representative of the WHO Regional Director in the Kyrgyz Republic Shahin Huseynov stressed that Kyrgyzstan was the first country in the Central Asian region to conduct a joint external evaluation for the second time, which indicates the country’s commitment to capacity building in the field of health security. In turn, WHO will provide full support in the development and implementation of the developed plan.

A joint external evaluation will be carried out by international experts from the World Health Organization in June.
