Sadyr Japarov, as part of a working trip to Issyk-Kul region, got acquainted with the projects for the reconstruction of Balykchy — Barskoon road and modernization of Karakol International Airport. Press service of the head of state reported.
At the instruction of the President, the reconstruction of Balykchy — Bokonbaevo — Karakol road began in 2021.
Minister of Transport and Communications Tilek Tekebaev told about plans to complete earthworks, lay asphalt concrete pavement, install fences, and build bridges. He also recalled that the road along the southern shore of Issyk-Kul lake had not been repaired since the very moment of its construction.
Deterioration of the road surface has reached an extreme degree. But the highway is of great importance in ensuring the quality of life of the local population.
The project is being implemented by the Association of Road Workers of Kyrgyzstan, which includes more than 25 domestic companies. Sadyr Japarov instructed to complete all the work on time. At the same time, he noted that it was important to pay special attention to the quality of the road.
As part of the modernization of Karakol airport, development of a pit and laying of the foundation of a new terminal building have been completed. The next step will be backfilling of the base. It is planned to install lighting equipment for night accommodation of aircraft.
The issue of lengthening the runway is being worked out to enable the accommodation of medium-haul aircraft, which are widely used in international passenger air transportation.
With the completion of the reconstruction, the new airport will be able to receive large aircraft from foreign countries, thereby increasing the tourist flow to the region.
The head of state stressed that there was no need to slow down the pace of work, and also noted the importance of completely getting rid of corruption schemes in the procurement process.
He noted that the completion of the reconstruction of the road in the southern part of Issyk-Kul would have a beneficial effect on the socio-economic factors in the development of the region. The new airport will also significantly increase the flow of foreign guests to Kyrgyzstan, thereby developing the tourism industry of the republic.
