U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken assured Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan in Astana of support for their sovereignty. Details are provided by DW.
According to the media outlet, Antony Blinken also announced additional assistance in the amount of $25 million for all countries in the region. He added that Washington supports the independence and territorial integrity of the states of Central Asia.
Financing should, in particular, be directed to creation of new jobs.
During the tour from February 28 to March 3, Blinken is scheduled to have a number of meetings with high-ranking officials from the countries of the region.
The C5 + 1 format is a multilateral mechanism for interaction between the five countries of Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan) and the United States. It was created in 2015 to discuss regional issues in the fields of economy, ecology, security, humanitarian and educational cooperation.
As part of C5 +1 Ministerial in Astana, the head of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubaev met with the U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday.
