Kyrgyzstan to launch monitoring mechanism to assess observance of human rights

A project was presented in Bishkek that will create a monitoring and response mechanism in Kyrgyzstan to assess the observance of human rights, gender equality, non-discrimination, transparency and standards of accountability in legislation and practice in the justice sector. Bir Duino Kyrgyzstan human rights center reports.

According to it, the project will bring together civil society organizations and its individual members involved in issues of justice and the rule of law. It will help with the skills and tools necessary for the coordinated and professional monitoring of the justice system.

Bir Duino Kyrgyzstan notes that increasing the capacity of civil society actors to monitor, analyze and respond to problems in the justice system in Kyrgyzstan and reforms in this area will contribute to the promotion of justice and the rule of law.

One of the key topics to be considered during the monitoring, analysis and follow-up of the project will be the digitalization of justice institutions and protection of privacy. The new civil society monitoring mechanism will take a rights-based and gender-sensitive approach. It will help monitor and evaluate legal and judicial reforms, especially in the field of criminal justice.
